3-4 YEAR-OLDS

The LIS Preschool program consists of both 3 & 4 Year-Olds students and is thoughtfully designed to provide a nurturing and engaging environment that supports the holistic development of our youngest learners. Our program goes beyond traditional academic instruction to help children thrive by actively exploring the world around them. We understand that this stage marks an important transition for children as they move from the familiar comforts of home to a vibrant community of learning, teachers, and friends. Within the secure and compassionate setting of our classrooms and preschool facilities, we strive to create a safe haven where children can flourish.

Elementary School & PYP

The Ljubljana International School (Kindergarten) and elementary school program is designed to empower our students to discover their passions while fostering a culture of achievement both within and beyond the classroom. Our unwavering commitment lies in ensuring that every student receives the necessary support for their optimal success. At this crucial stage of development, children are exposed to a diverse range of subjects, encompassing reading, writing, mathematics, science, cultural studies, physical education, art, music, and dance. This comprehensive exposure cultivates their inquisitive nature, igniting a lifelong love for inquiry.

Middle Years Programme (MYP)

GRADE 6 – GRADE 10

LIS takes immense pride in its official candidacy for the MYP, a testament to the school’s unwavering dedication to meeting the rigorous standards set forth by the IB. At the heart of LIS’s meticulously crafted program lies the Middle Years Program (MYP), an essential element of the renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This prestigious recognition underscores LIS’s commitment to tailoring its program to align with the holistic and interdisciplinary approach championed by the MYP. By providing a rich and well-rounded educational experience, LIS aims to develop students who possess the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to thrive academically and in their future endeavors.

GRADES 11 & 12

The final two high school program at  LIS is crafted to provide our students with an all-encompassing secondary education experience that prepares them thoroughly for their journey into post-secondary education. We place great emphasis on not just academic development but also on providing unwavering emotional, behavioral, and social support systems that foster an ideal learning environment for each student.

Ljubljana International School and Kindergarten is an authorized IB PYP School and a Candidate School* for the MYP and DP programs. We are pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education that Ljubljana International School believes is important for our students.

Mastery Learning

At Ljubljana International School, we use the Mastery Learning Model of instruction. Mastery learning is a research-based teaching and learning strategy that focuses on ensuring students fully comprehend a specific topic or skill before moving on to more advanced material. The main goal is to ensure that every student achieves a deep understanding and proficiency in the subject matter, rather than just meeting a certain time-based requirement.

Mastery learning operates with several key principles that aim to optimize a student’s learning experience. In a mastery learning setting, students are granted the freedom to progress at their own pace, allowing them to dedicate more time to a topic until they have demonstrated mastery before moving on to the next concept. Teachers employ formative assessment techniques throughout the learning process to continuously evaluate students’ understanding, identifying areas of strength and weakness to tailor instruction accordingly
