Mathematics Teacher (MYP & DP) — Ljubljana International School

Ljubljana International School (LIS) is seeking a qualified and experienced Mathematics Teacher to deliver the MYP Mathematics (Years 1–5) and DP Mathematics programmes. The successful candidate will teach DP Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches and/or Applications and Interpretation (please specify level/subject preference: SL/HL) and contribute to curriculum development, assessment design, and the academic culture of the mathematics department.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging, concept-based lessons aligned with the MYP Mathematics framework (four assessment criteria: Knowing and Understanding, Investigating Patterns, Communicating, Applying Mathematics in Real-Life Contexts) and the relevant DP Mathematics guide(s). Design formative and summative assessments using accurate IB command terms and criterion-referenced rubrics. Support students through the DP Mathematical Exploration (Internal Assessment) process, including topic selection, mathematical rigour, and personal engagement criteria. Contribute to vertical articulation of the mathematics curriculum across MYP and DP, ensuring conceptual coherence and skills progression (e.g., ATL skills, the MYP mathematics framework's global contexts, key/related concepts). Participate in moderation and standardisation of internal assessment. Engage with the IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) framework, including differentiation, inclusive education practices, and appropriate use of technology (GDC, CAS software) per DP subject requirements. Maintain accurate records via the school's learning management/reporting systems and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. Contribute to co-curricular life of the school (clubs, competitions such as national/international maths olympiads, CAS-linked initiatives where relevant). Participate in professional development, including IB-recognised workshops.

Bachelor's Degree:

Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Mathematics or a closely related quantitative discipline; Master's degree preferred. Teaching qualification/certification recognised in home country or equivalent. Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience in secondary mathematics. Prior experience teaching within the IB MYP and/or DP framework strongly preferred; familiarity with IB philosophy and pedagogy required. Fluent English (working language of instruction); additional languages an asset. Confident use of graphing display calculators (GDC) and mathematical software (e.g., GeoGebra, Desmos, spreadsheets) in instruction and assessment.

Desirable:

IB workshop training (Category 1 or equivalent) in MYP Mathematics and/or DP Mathematics. Experience supervising DP Mathematical Explorations and/or Extended Essays in mathematics. Experience teaching both Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation routes, at SL and HL. Experience with cross-curricular or transdisciplinary planning (e.g., collaboration with Sciences, Design, or Individuals and Societies). Experience in a multilingual/international school setting.
